The park is located in Pierson at the end of Nine Mile Road, which is just off County Road 3.  It's a nice quiet drive through mostly wildlife management area.  The park is provided by Volusia Forever, Lake George Forest & Wildlife Management Area, and the SJRWMD, in cooperation with each other.

The park is nestled on the waters of Florida's third largest lake, Lake George.  It's a clean facility with a pavilion, picnic tables, grills, a dock and nature trails!  Any outdoor enthuisist is sure to enjoy!  If you are like me and need to find a good bang for your buck this is it, for just gas money and lunch you can spend an afternoon enjoying Old Florida and it's wildlife.... who knows you may just see a Florida Gator!!

I can’t believe it’s already time for Bike Week! It’s one of my favorite events in Central Florida, and DeLand is doing more and more to participate. It appears that the weather for this years’ event will be perfect – warm and sunny. The sunshine is always a treat for those who travel from up North, but this year we Floridians have had more than our fair share of cold weather and are ready to enjoy the sunshine.For any of you Bike Week visitors who want to escape the usual Main Street and Iron Horse scenes, I encourage you to take a ride just a little West and check out Deland. It’s a chance to enjoy a great ride, see some new scenery and eat and drink in our award winning downtown. This Saturday, marks the 5th annual DeLand Bike Rally  www.delandbikerally.com and there should be a great crowd. Last year the entire downtown area was packed with bikes and bikers.

For those of you who come down to visit and wonder about owning property in Florida, it’s time to make it a reality! WHO IS ELIGIBLE:

First-time home buyers who buy a home between January 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 are eligible for a Tax Credit equal to 10 percent of the purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000.

FIRST-TIME HOME BUYER = ANYONE WHO HAS NOT OWNED A PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS!

INCOME LIMITS:

This Tax Credit amount is reduced for buyers with a modified adjusted gross income of more than $75,000 for single taxpayers and $150.000 for married taxpayers filing a joint return. The tax Credit amount is reduced to zero for taxpayers with a modified adjusted gross income of more than $95,000 (single) or $170,000 (married) and is reduced proportionally for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income between these amounts.

This Tax Credit does not have to be paid back as long as the home remains their primary residence for 36 months after the purchase date.
